Type 38 75mm Infantry Gun (JP570)
includes two Type 38 75mm guns with crew, one Command Sword team, one optional Observer Rifle team, one Small three-hole base, one Small two-hole base & two Large bases.

The Type 38 became the standard field gun of the Imperial Japanese Army at the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese War in 1905.

Built under licence from the famed German gun manufacturer Krupp; the Type 38 was a relatively simple design which meant that a greater number of guns could be built in a shorter time span.

Initially the Type 38 was fitted with a conventional interrupted screw breech block mechanism that was later used on the Type 41 design. However, this was later changed to a horizontal sliding design in order to speed up the reloading process. Along with the typical high explosive (HE) round, the Type 38 could also fire an armour-piercing, shrapnel as well as other tactical ammunition such as an illumination round. While considered obsolete by the standard of the times; the Type 38 saw service against the Soviets and during the war in the Pacific against the Americans.

The Observer Rifle Team

Observer teams need a good view of the battlefield in order to do their job correctly. Be sure to deploy them in a position where they have an excellent view of the battlefield such as on a hilltop or on the top floor of a multi-level building.

Gun Shields
Manning a gun in the thick of battle is a hazardous job. To offset the increased vulnerability of gun crews to enemy fire, many guns have a bulletproof gun shield.

Gun Shields provide your Gun teams with Bulletproof Cover from shots fired from in front of a line drawn across the front of the team’s base. Shots fired from behind this line hit the unprotected crew behind the shield.

Gun Shields do not provide cover to teams moving At the Double, nor from artillery bombardments.

Fire Bursts
The Type 38 75mm Guns of the Field Artillery Battery use the Fire Bursts special rule on page 13 of Rising Sun.

The Gun Crews


Although a Field Artillery Battery is a single Support choice, each Gun Section operates as a separate platoon with its own Command team. Field Artillery Battery Gun Sections may not be deployed in Ambush.
